One of the most extreme groups in our galaxy must surely be Abruptum. Just listen to one of their albums and nothing will be the same. Sheer appealing madness... "It" answered in late January. It has been quiet around Abruptum for a while now. What is happening? - Right now we are discussing different deals with some labels that has shown us interest in putting out a third (long-awaited) album. We are also talking about an album with the two first demos and the "evil" EP, in a limited edition. Probably weīll also put out the "De Profundis Mors Vas Cousumet" track on a picture disc EP soon. But as I have experienced that (for over 5 years involved in the scene) one canīt be sure of anything, especially with all the idiots that Iīve found out are pestering the scene. Well, one thing is for sure and that is...Abruptum is not dead and weīll stay alive as long as I live (not too long perhaps) to haunt peopleīs minds. Have you signed with H.N.F.? - No. Have Abruptum sold as many albums as they had expected? - More than expected since we do the kind of thing that is hard to listen to. Since we are not a common "one in a million" Black metal band that either sing about the Northern cold or Vikings (in most cases both) and do not do music at all... all this stuff that seem to be such a big trend now, yes! I think one could say we sold much. Letīs say 5000 each album or something. I guess we should have sold the double amount if we had burned some churches or killed a brother and got caught for it. So pathetic and stupid! I wouldnīt do such a thing just for promotion. Will it be possible to experience Abruptum live? - No, not yet. The time isnīt right at the moment. We would never play for such idiots that are destroying what we have once built up. Abruptum would do just one gig and imagine the crowd standing there like fools (thinking about the black metal festival in Norway) and 80 % small fucking stupid kids with no brain and no knowledge what they are up to! Abruptum bidar sin tid. Could Abruptum be described fully in words? No, guess not but Euronymous did a great try when he said that "Abruptum is the audial essence of pure black evil". We are not a band and we do no music. Is "It" still doing the project Incision? Is he still a porno maniac? - Itīs quite strange that Iīm remembered as a porno maniac who plays in Incision. No one (no one...!?- ed) ever talks about me as the one who grounded the Horde and the Black Circle as well... More often I hear the most stupid things that people spreads about me like that I changed the piece I got from Deadīs skull against some Venom EP! So unbelievably stupid. Let me explain this Incision thing for you a bit closer here... I and Dan Swanö once did this as a project to see if it was hard to do this "Gore-Death metal" thing. But uh... it seems like everybody could do it. We did some songs and recorded it for a demo called "Perverted Possessions" and gave a big fuck off to all Gore bands. Incision is long dead but Iīm glad I did it. Dan swanö did those really perverted and sick lyrics. So if I am a porno maniac? No... guess not...not more than you or the most other people. But I admit Iīm interested in the subject and it sometimes goes over my head, but never do I let it have something to do with my belief as the Laveyans do. It is just a part of life for me. Porno maniac? Pah! What about "It"īs book...? - Back in 1991 I think it was I burned all my ideas and notes, as I planned to leave. This was anyhow not meant so now Iīm doing everything from the beginning. But there is a book, I just donīt want to leave it to the afterworld unfinished. How do you survive Summer without mental wounds? - I donīt. Do you think a total war would be "better" than the "blackwar" we are in now? - What "black war"? Do you mean that everybody is fighting among us and not others as we should? (not exactly! - ed) There is no war! Burning a couple of churches is no war and as long as we go around and kill each other and donīt get more organised, there will never be a war. Itīs hard to have a war with some matches, gasoline and knifes... we must do it the big way. But to reach there we have to fight together shoulder to shoulder and not among us. As it is now the most people just treat us as if we were some revolting youngsters. We must earn our respect and respect we will get through bloodshed. Do you think we will win this religious war? According to the bible we wonīt...! - We win if we get smart and donīt run around and be too proud to join each other. What do you prefer, order or chaos (in the society)? - I prefer ruling over people with both order and chaos as weapons. Do you think the listeners understand Abruptum? - Many do... Not all though, I donīt care. When will we see a new release from Abruptum? - Soon enough. We are not like all other people who just try to shit out as much as they can on the market... Abruptum was born Summer 1990 and have only put out one EP and two full-length albums. I remember though that Euronymous and my plan was to put out 4 Abruptum albums each year (so, if these plans had worked out you would have been like "all other people" then...ed). But as you wait for our new album, buy the other two and the Ophthalamia album "Journey in Darkness"... The second Ophthalamia album "Via Dolorosa" will be out in the end of February.
