Satyricon will have a new album out very soon. Something we look forward to for sure. Answered in August 1994 by Satyr. "Dark Medieval Times" has been out for some time now. Is there anything you would have done different? - It still rules in my ears, though there is always something which could have been done better. That album is a very good key to the gates of atmosphere. With your second album people will surely notice you. Do you expect the sales to "explode" now? - No, I donīt think it will "explode", but of course I expect to sell a lot more of the new album. Dark Medieval Times has sold a lot, and itīs common that the second album sell more. You have a new album recorded called "On the Shadowthrone" soon to be released. Anything you want to say about this album? - Itīs an album with a very strong Norwegian feeling and certainly very majestic and nostalgic. The album should be the soundtrack to the rise of the north and the song "Hvite Krists Død" should be Norwayīs national anthem. Whatīs the biggest differences between the debut album and your new album? - Production wise, the new album is stronger. Itīs harder, but at the same time even more symphonic. We have played the advance tape for "important" people in the scene and they all froze to ice. In what ways have Satyricon developed since your debut demo and ītill now? - In every way, itīs a forgotten past. The LP version for "On the Shadowthrone" will be something special... - 1000 copies with a gatefold sleeve and 500/1000 picture discs! Can we call your debut demo a "real" Satyricon demo? I mean, you are now the only member left from those days and most of the material were made by the other ones. - They made the songs and I was just the vocalist, but since the Autumn of ī92 I started doing everything and I still do. The first demo is a real Satyricon demo, but I canīt stand behind the material they made when looking back on it now. I think it was better that all the other Death metal shit which was released in 92. At least it was black fucken metal. Could it be possible to see Satyricon live/on tour sometime? - Well, itīs possible but not likely. It will be a nightmare trying to recreate all the arrangements we do in the studio live. Weīll see what the future brings. Satyricon will also release a cd with demo tracks. When will this one be out? What songs will be on it? - Itīs not decided when it will be released but probably in Dec/Jan or something. It will be the second demo "The Forest is my throne", in a limited edition of 1000 copies. You and Fenriz have plans to record old Norwegian Folk music in your own versions. Please explain? - The project is called "Storm" and itīs basically old Norwegian folk themes rearranged by Satyr and Fenriz. We will record our album this Autumn and we are extremely enthusiastic about it. The album will be out in late ī94 or early ī95, entitled "Nordavind". You are also having a solo project. What is happening here? When will this be released? - Most of the music is already done and it will be released in the beginning of 95. The music has nothing to do with metal. Itīs dark, norse, medieval, obscure and melodic. The musicians will be myself of course and Ihsahn (Emperor) and Haavard (ex Satyricon). You are a busy person. Do you have spare time at all? - Too little, itīs very annoying with all these duties all the time. And on top of that I get stressed by phone calls all the time. I wish I had more spare time so I could slow down a bit. Forest wandering is supreme soul rest. I will spend more time visiting obscure nature pearls this Autumn. I have already started...
